Not all people purchasing American Eskimos realize the breed's needs. Those who purchase a dog on impulse and find themselves unable to care for it, abandon it. Besides, not all people want to care for an American Eskimo if it gets sick. A few rescue organizations help to find new homes for these poor dogs.
American Eskimos - How to Help?
Rescue organizations consist mainly of volunteers. They supply primary health care and evaluate the dogs' personalities. Balanced American Eskimos can be adopted by anyone who has proven his/her interest in the dog and is ready to take the responsibility. Adoption process is rather easy. Yet, it is not enough to just contact a rescue. Rescue members have to be informed on the conditions an American Eskimo is going to be placed at.
Rescues are non-profit organizations. Adoption fees cover expenses connected with veterinary care and current management. People who are willing to help breed rescues can volunteer and offer assistance. One can offer a foster home for an American Eskimo. A close contact with this wonderful dog is sure to be a good experience for the family. Breed fanciers can also help to educate the public on the issue of owning American Eskimos.
